How far ahead of the economy is the stock market?
I’ve heard the stock market is an indicator of future economics. We’ve seen a little improvement in the market recently, indicating economic recovery, but when? Also, why does the stock market say it likes Hillary Clinton as VP?
Basically, I’m interested what messages the stock market sends in general.
What is the main difference between investing in stock market and gambling?
Lets say you buy some stocks and after a month or so your money gets doubled. Would you not morally feel bad about the money that you got from stock market without doing a thing? Would you feel it is similar to gambling? Can one say that just because there is some science behind stock market the money that some gets out of stock market is more legit?
In what ways are the stock market and the real estate market related?
Such as: Do foreclosure increases affect the stock market and in what ways? What happens when deeds recorded decrease? What happens to the stock market when median home prices go down? What happens when new construction permits decrease? This is of course referring to residential real estate, but what about commercial real estate? Thank you very much for your input.
What should I do with my 401k allocations due to the current stock market volatility?
When I signed up for my company’s 401k plan, there was a little survey thing that I filled out based on age, retirement age, etc, and it basically told me what funds to invest in and at what percentage. I am concerned now as I have lost apporximately 20% of my total value in the past couple of weeks. My question is two-fold, firstly, should I just leave my current funds as is, or should I reallocate to different funds and at what amounts? I do not want to close my 401k altogether, and would only consider that as a last resort option. I do, however, want what little savings I have accumulated in the past few years to not vaporize before my eyes. I am 24 years old, so retirement is not anytime soon, but I still have my concerns.
My current 401k Portfolio:
BlackRock Total Return Fund 5%
Van Kampen Equity and Income Fund 15%
MFS Value Fund 10%
BlackRock Large Cap Core Fund 15%
BlackRock Large Cap Growth Fund 15%
BlackRock Mid-Cap Value Equity Portfolio 5%
BlackRock International Value Fund 20%
MFS International New Discovery Fund 10%
Oppenheimer Small & Mid Cap Value Fund 5%
Additional Funds available through my 401k Plan:
Merrill Lynch Ready Assets Trust
BlackRock Government Income Portfolio
Van Kampen Growth and Income Fund

What are some careers in the stock market?
I’ve always been fascinated with the stock market. I follow it daily and have accounts to trade with. One is a fully managed account and the other I make the trades. I think something in the stock market might be the career for me. I’m 25 and have a degree in healthcare business. The only thing I question my ability at is making phone sales. What are some careers in the stock market?
