Which online brokerage company (etrade, ameritrade, scottrade, etc) has the lowest fees and is easy to use?

I prefer to use Scottrade.
NO account maintenance, service, or inactivity fees.
Excellent trading platforms (very user friendly).

Online trading commission rates:

Scottrade = $7.00 (for stock over $1.00 a share).
Sharebuilder (real time) = $9.95.
T.D. Ameritrade = $9.99.
Schwab (standard) = $12.95.
E-Trade (standard) = $12.99.

That depends on your needs, level of financial market sophistication, the size of your account and your goals.

Fidelity charges $8 per trade, and the Active Trader Pro software is outstanding. For newcomers one typically gets a certain number of trades free if your account is above a certain volume.
