Best Stock Trading Site for Me?

I am new to trading and I have some extra extra cash, about 00, that I want to buy 5 stocks with. After i have bought my shares I plan on leaving them there for several years and probably not making many other trades.
I’ve hear E*trade charges maintenance fees, if you don’t make at least one trade a quarter, and they don’t even give you a warning, then they sell your stock to pay for the fees, ridiculous!
TD Ameritrade looks pretty good for only .99 per trade, no surprise fees, (at least according to their site), and there an established company.
So I’m just looking for some suggestions about the best site for my needs since there are so many choices out there.

Heard Ameritrade and Scottrade are good. Also etrade and Fidelity.
Scottrade has trades, Ameritrade has .99 trades and 30 free trades right now. E-Trade is also .99 trades, and Fidelity is a little more.

Which one is the best trading site? Heard good things from Ameritrade and Fidelity and Scottrade.

So I was wondering which one is the best stock trading site, like E-Trade, Fidelity, etc. I’ve been watching the market for a while now, even back when Apple was at 90 and Google a little below 200 and finally decided to give it a try. Also anya advice or pointers you guys and gals ca noffer would be greatly appreciated.

I had a really bad experience with E-Trade. What is a company that you can trust with your money, that doesn’t have any hidden fees, including maintenance fees, and has a relatively low price per trade?
E-Trade "lost" 00 of my money before I was able to buy a single share of stock from them. My grievance with them is very legitimate.

I signed up with e-trade and have been enjoying the service but I must say- once my free trades have disappeared I doubt I will be doing much trading!

What other companies out there are offering free trades? Can two people at the same address sign up to e-trade?
